Level Control Solution in Condensate Recovery Unit

Condensate is the liquid formed when steam passes from the vapor to the liquid state. The condensate pump feeds the boiler with the condensates coming from the lower side of the tank. The pump works with high temperature condensates and has therefore, its mechanical seal placed away from the hydraulic. It is designed for natural air cooling at around 120ºF, providing excellent working conditions that result in a long-lasting execution of the pump.


Level control is one of the main automatic controls: condensate level inside the condensate recovery unit (CRU) is controlled automatically by means of an inverter that optimizes electrical consumption of the condensate pump and ensures optimal working conditions for the pump whatever pressure is regulated in the boiler.


However, the liquid level sensors on the market are either unreliable or expensive.


Due to the high stew value, the influence of the temperature should be taken into consideration when selecting the sensor. Combined with the fact that the reed transmitter is not resistant to high temperature, the user finally selects Flap-11 series magnetic level gauge and Ring-11 tuning fork liquid level switch as the level control solution for high/low alarm after comparison.

Flap-11 magnetic level gauge adopts a broader display panel, which can provide visual indication of level from a distance. At the same time, the protection level is up to IP66 / IP67, which fully meets the requirements of reliable sealing performance in moisture condition

Ring-11 tuning fork liquid level switch can withstand the high temperature of 250 ℃. The tines’ harmonic resonant frequency has been precisely pre-adjusted to achieve high sensitivity as well as improved anti-hanging capacity. Worth to say, Ring-11 has passed SIL2 / SIL3 Functional Safety Assessment. In its integrated structure of electronic module, wide power supply circuit and safety module design ensure the instrument can still output the signal accurately in case of unstable power supply voltage or power failure.
