Precautions for Changing Thread G1/2 to Thread G3/4

Process fittings, or process connections, made of stainless steel are used to fasten and protect sensors, mainly including threads, flanges, clamps, etc. They can be mounted directly into existing stainless steel pipe systems or in tank/vessel walls. To save the budget and for convenient installation, thread process connection became one of the most popular process connections.

In practical application, the process connections are mismatched to the various sizes of drilled holes in some cases. However, due to the risk of injury from high temperatures, high pressure, or corrosive substances, it is hard to re-open the drilled hole of the container: cutting and welding are strictly prohibited in some dangerous occasions. To match the process connection, the simplest way is to equip a thread adapter on the basis of the drilled hole of the container, that is, to change the original small thread into a large thread, for example, thread G1/2 changes into the thread G3/4.

When changing thread G1/2 to thread G3/4, please refer to the figure for installation. The figure shows the horizontal thread G1/2 drilled hole needs to be changed to thread G3/4. For this case, customers can equip a thread adapter.

It can be seen from the figure that the fork body is wider than the inner diameter of thread G1/2 while without contacting the drilled hole. When selecting the thread adapter, the length of G3/4 section should be 75mm. Clearly, the specific length of thread adapter should be determined according to the length of the fork, as long as the end of the fork does not contact the drilled hole.

Installation Precautions:

1. Ponding water. During installation, please avoid the liquid from accumulating in the pipeline (thread adapter) when the liquid level drops.

2. Fluidity of medium. To equip a thread adapter, please make sure the medium has good fluidity, and it is not suitable for liquids with sediment and high viscosity.

3. The fork does not contact to the drilled hole.
